Types and uses of valves

valve is a control component in the fluid transportation system, with the functions of cut-off, regulation, diversion, countercurrent prevention, pressure regulation, shunt or overflow pressure relief. The wide variety of valves, according to its function and use, can be divided into the following categories: ‌

shutoff valve : This kind of valve is mainly used for opening and closing, often used in cold, heat source import and export, equipment import and export, pipeline branch lines, etc. Common shutoff valves include gate valves, globe valves, ball valves and butterfly valves.

check valve : used to prevent the backflow of the medium, standing in the outlet of the pump, the outlet of the trap does not allow the reverse flow of fluid, check valve is divided into swing, lift and clamp three kinds.

safety valve : automatic valve, using the pressure of the medium itself to discharge a certain amount of fluid to prevent the pressure in the system from exceeding the predetermined safe value, when the pressure is restored to the safe value, the valve is closed by itself to prevent the medium from continuing to flow out.

regulating valve : used to adjust the pressure, flow and other parameters of the medium, including pressure reducing valve, regulating valve and throttle valve.

diverter valve : used for distributing, separating or mixing media in pipelines, including various distributing valves and traps.

In addition, the valve can also be divided into cast iron valves, cast steel valves, stainless steel valves (such as 201, 304, 316, etc.), chromium molybdenum steel valves, chromium molybdenum vanadium steel valves, biphase steel valves, plastic valves and non-standard valves. Different types of valves play an important role in industrial applications, from simple globe valves to the various valves used in complex automatic control systems, and their varieties and specifications are quite wide.
